I may have been three years old, perhaps a little older. I was playing by myself outside our back door in a small patio or garden area. There was a bush with large, bright red flowers, possibly a hibiscus or rose of Sharon. I remember thinking the blossoms looked like little people wearing flowing dresses, and I picked several—quite a few, actually—and played with them on the ground. Separated from their source of water, they soon wilted, so I picked more and more. Then I remember, seemingly out of nowhere, my angry mother shouting at me and hauling me back into the house. Feeling anxious for having invoked her anger, I recall not understanding what I did that was wrong. I suspect I was confined to a crib or a chair as punishment, although I have no clear memory of how this episode ended.

My earliest childhood memory would have to be learning to ride a bike for the first time. I believe my first bike was orange however I cannot remember exactly. I remember being on my street with my mom and my dad attempting to stay balanced and pedal the bike forwards. My dad would help me to get on the bike and give me a little push to get the bike moving so it would be easier to balance and he would catch me whenever I began to fall. I remember my mom watching and cheering for me whenever I was able to stay on the bike for more than a few seconds. This is a fond memory however I remember being very nervous to ride the bike in fear of falling and getting hurt.

My earliest memory is the first time I met my first dog. I was around 4 or so, going into kindergarten soon, when my parents told me they wanted to take me somewhere. We arrived at a lady’s house, and after walking inside, I saw her have multiple different dogs with her. The one that stood out to me the most at the time was this goldendoodle puppy. While my parents talked with this lady, I played with the dark brown puppy, who was a fluffy furball. The house was shaped in a way that we could run in a large circle around the inside of the house. This part of the memory is very vivid, and I can remember many of the small details, like the shape of the house and rooms, and all the dogs that were there. I do not fully remember what happened after meeting him, but a few weeks later, I came home from school on the bus, and he was waiting outside my house for me with my parents.

My earliest childhood memory was when my parents dropped me off for my first day of preschool. I loved going to school and I wanted to walk to school just like the kids in the PBS kids show “Arthur” did. My town that I grew up in was small but not small enough that I was able to walk to my preschool at four years old. So my mom would park in a nearby park and we would walk the ten minutes to my preschool. After a while, I started realizing that she would leave and come back while I was at school, I was not a big fan of that, so everyday I tried my best to make sure that she would stay “right outside the door” until my class was over. On the first day I remember posing in front of the school sign with my Dora umbrella and my red rain-boots and taking a photo with my parents and feeling so happy that I was finally big enough to go to school like my older siblings did.

I would consider myself someone who has always had a pretty good memory. So when I begin to recall my childhood a few stories flutter through my mind. The one that has always stood out the most, however, happened around the age of three. It was New Years day and as we do every year, all my aunts, uncles, and cousins gathered at my Aunt Reginas house for a start of the new year party. The big kids always hung out in the basement as the adults mingled upstairs. Naturally, I attempted to fit in with my cool older cousins so I began to make my way downstairs. With each step, I was ignorant to the day-wrecking events that were about to take place. As I made my way over to my older brother John and cousin Luke, one way or another, I tripped over their legs, tumbled, and broke my elbow bad enough to the point where I needed pins placed. Although my memory begins to get foggy around this point of the story, the next thing I knew I was in the hospital surrounded by bubbles that my doctor had blown to boost my mood, all the while my little arm was being bundled by a bright pink cast.

My earliest childhood memory was going to meet my little brother after he was born. I was either 3 or 4 at the time when my dad told me that he was finally born. I remember being filled with excitement as my dad drove my sister and I over to the hospital. Once we arrived at the hospital, we had to check in and finally were able to go to the room where my mom and brother were in. As I opened the door, I ran towards my mom to give her a big hug. She told me to whisper because my little baby brother was sleeping in the bassinet next to her bed. I climbed onto the bed and asked if I could hold him. She carefully picked him up and paced him into my arms. My dad took a picture of me holding my baby brother and I had the biggest smile on my face. I remember saying to my mom and dad that I was going to protect him as any other sibling would say.

My earliest childhood memory that I can recall was probably when I was about four years old, I had one of those fun battery-operated cars that you can sit in and drive around. I remember it was white and pink, and it had Barbie stickers all over the sides and windshield. I remember driving it around the backyard of my childhood home and one day, I think my mom started to regret buying me this car. She had made me upset for some reason, I don’t remember what it was for. However, I’m sure it was just due to being told “no” and I told her that I was going to “Take my pink Barbie car and run away.” She didn’t like that response very much as she called my dad and told him the situation. He was not much help to her as he just laughed and thought it was hysterical.

My earliest memory is from when I was around two I believe as it was before I moved to Texas at 3. I remember being in a small bright red wagon with a wooden handle with my sister. We were being pulled down our street past our house and front yard by two older girls that were our neighbors who used to babysit us. My sister was having a lot of fun and was laughing hysterically and I was enjoying the experience of being in the wagon while the two older girls pulled us around. There was a large tree in the grass between the sidewalk and the curb of the road that we stopped at before getting out of the wagon because my parents were calling me and my sister to come home. I don’t remember much else than that but I do recall that it was a nice summer day and that the blacktop of the road was very warm on my feet.

My earliest memory that I can distinctly recall was on my last day of preschool. Our whole class was taking a field trip, walking hand in hand to Huntington Bank. I was far more concerned about my first loose tooth. I messed around with it, yanking and pushing at it with my tongue. Eventually, the tooth came out right as we were arriving at the bank. I held it in my mouth for a little, not sure what to do or if it was worth interrupting the teacher for. Once we sat down in a circle in the middle of the bank, I stuck out my tongue to my friend sitting next to me to show her I lost my first tooth.

My earliest memory that I can recall well still to this day would be the day I got my first dog. It was a sunny day in June and we finally decided to get a family dog. I was so excited and happy to make the far drive down to amish country to pick him up. I remember asking my mom over and over again “Are we there yet?”. When we finally got there I remember all of the dogs they had running around and it made me so happy. When they finally brought out our dog I started running towards him in excitement. I immediately started petting and hugging him the moment I saw him. We filled out all the paperwork then started loading the car up to make the long drive home. The whole way home he slept on my lap and to this day I still remember that day like it was yesterday.

When I was younger, I went to two different preschools before kindergarten. My earliest memory takes place at my very first school. During this time I was probably around two or three years old and only vaguely remember minor details about the place; that it was in the lower levels of a brick church and that my dad would take me most days. And, on a random day, I remember not wanting to leave my dad’s arms at drop off. Previously, I had no issues leaving my dad to meet up with the other kids but, on this day, I wanted to make an issue. I know that I didn’t actually mind leaving my dad but I just wanted to cry and see what would happen. Our teacher had taken me from my dad once I began my fit and gave me a big wet kiss on my face. I hated kisses, I thought they were so gross so, she probably made the situation worse but, I don’t remember anything from that point on.

I may have been about 2 or three years old. The older lady across the street would often watch me. We were in her backyard sitting on her wooden bench swing with her house to our left. While we sat, I drifted in and out of sleep looking at her beautiful backyard. It was small but full of large green shrubs, trees, and colorful flowers. A tall wooden fence lined the perimeter except for an opening to exit. In the opening sat a tall white arch decorated with more flowers similarly to a wedding arch. It must have been early on a spring or summer morning because the sun sat low in the sky to the east, and the weather was perfectly comfortable.

My earliest childhood memory might be from when I was 4. My family and our closest family friends took a vacation to Indiana Dunes National Park. While I remember a few events from this trip, the most memorable was an early morning on the beach. We had woken up early to watch the sunrise and have a breakfast picnic on the beach. I remember still being in pajamas and being bare foot. The sun was already hot, and the sand burned our feet as we looked for a spot to sit down. We set up a blanket and my sister and I sat next to each other with our childhood stuffed animals. Later that day we swam and hung out inside our cabin during a storm. However, the memory of the burning hot sand on our feet and sitting with my sister has always stuck with me.

My earliest childhood memory is my third birthday party. Growing up, my family always went over the top with party decorations. When I was three, I decided to have a birthday party based on The Wizard of Oz. My mom had decorated the entire house to look like Oz, but most importantly, she made me my very own yellow brick road. She had spent hours drawing with yellow chalk on the path to the house. As a three-year-old, I felt as if I were in the movie. I spent the day in my Dorothy costume, walking down the yellow brick road as if I was Judy Garland herself. I remember the feeling of pure happiness and excitement when I arrived at my party. Although I don’t remember any events from the party itself, the yellow brick road still stands as my earliest childhood memory.

My earliest and most memorable childhood memory is tough to recall, as most of my early memories are short and sometimes uninteresting. One memory I have is from when I was about five years old at a Cleveland Indians baseball game. My family of four, at the time, all dressed up in our Star Wars costumes and outfits for the reason being that it was “Star Wars Night” at the stadium. Our intention for attending the game was due to my family being big baseball fans, as well as big Star Wars fans. We also figured that others would be participating in dressing up, but that was not the case. Almost no one else was in theme as we were, making us stand out in the crowd. We were approached and asked to go on the field to partake in a Star Wars trivia during halftime with the chance to win a prize, and of course, my dad agreed. I remember standing in the center of the field surrounded by my favorite characters as the whole stadium watched. In the end, with my dad’s trilogy knowledge, he won the trivia and left with a prize, along with me gaining an everlasting childhood memory.

My earliest childhood memory is from when I was four years old. I was visiting my aunt’s house in Maryland over the Fourth of July holiday with my grandparents and my mom. It was a warm, sticky July evening outside. My little sister, who was two at the time, and I were using sparklers in the yard. The sparklers hissed and tossed tiny bright white sparks. Curious, I touched the glowing tip and burned my finger, which, at four, felt like the worst pain I could imagine. I remember running inside to my grandma, crying. She turned on the sink and ran cool water over my finger, then wrapped it in a dish towel and told me I was okay. Outside, my sister kept laughing in the yard and playing with the sparklers while my mom watched. I don’t remember much after that, just the sting slowly fading and the relief of standing by my grandma at the kitchen sink.

Majority of my childhood memories are short and foggy, I can only maybe ball park my age. One of the most vivid memories, and by most I mean least foggy, is of a time when I was still living in Illinois probably around 4 maybe 5. We were visiting a small yellow house with a double car garage, likely my neighbors house. I was cruising down the street riding a tricycle, later corrected that it was infact a “big wheel”. I had wired headphones playing Over You by Daughtry, the artist I loved at the time. I remember it was such a lovely day out, bright sunlight and trees whizzing by. It was warm, but not hot, the perfect summer day for little Sam.

My earliest childhood memory is from when I was in preschool. I remember there was a daycare for kids after school whose parents were unavailable to pick them up until later in the day. I always remember my mom came to pick me up as soon as school ended and I would turn around and wave goodbye to my friends who would grab their pillows and blankets and settle down for nap time. At the time I was too young to understand why they got nap time and not me, so I was always really jealous and would beg my mom to let me stay after until one day, she finally gave in. I was so excited to lay down and take a nap that I was completely unable to fall asleep. I vividly remember staring up at the ceiling at all the little paper plates that were cut in half and painted to look like rainbows hanging above me. I stared at one right above my head until I eventually drifted off to sleep. I don’t remember much that happened after that, but I believe I ended up being very disappointed that sleeping at school wasn’t as fun as I expected it to be.

When I was about 4, we traveled down to Florida with my grandpa and grandma, who passed away due to lung cancer when I was eight. I can vividly remember her, however, sitting next to me on the trolley as we drove to the beach. She was smiling down at me and showing me something that sat in the palm of her hand, but I can no longer recall what it was. Her loving expression and calming countenance inspired in me sense of awe. I have held onto that picture of her face as a token of her existence, proof that I knew my grandmother as a kind, thoughtful, and genuine person. Although I have no other recollections of her, I enjoy listening to the stories that my grandpa tells of her, imagining what those experiences could have been like.

A memory that sticks out in my past years reveals the distinctive trait of wanting to design and create new ideas. About seven to eight years ago, I had the idea to start making YouTube videos, taking inspiration from my older brother, as well as famous YouTubers I watched. This was quite ambitious, but I learned a lot of valuable skills and about myself. I knew that to start a successful channel, I needed a logo, a name, and other unique images to base my channel around. This led me to design my logo on a few phone editing apps without much experience. I learned a lot about design and eventually created a logo I was proud of. After the completion of my personal logo, I continued to create other logos and digital art. Furthermore, creating good-quality videos requires skillful video editing, so I had to experiment with editing on different software. Like logo creating, I very much enjoyed editing the videos I made and ending with a completed video to post that I was proud of. As I continued my YouTube channel, I discovered what I enjoy doing and sharing in my videos. My YouTube channel was never very successful, but I discovered many skills and aspects of myself I never knew were there. Later on, I was asked to design a logo for a disc golf tournament, and I participated in logo design for my hometown of Norwalk. To this day, design, editing, and filming skills are used in my daily activities. Taking on the task of creating a YouTube channel was important to my self-development and finding my true interests. It also gave me the chance to learn new skills or talents and put them to use as I developed my channel. This event early in my life may have been a key moment that eventually led me to my current major, Architecture.
